Volunteers Needed at Upcoming Statewide Trail-Building Projects

We would love to see you at either or both of our upcoming statewide, long-weekend trail-building projects:

Project I: Wood Lake Segment, Taylor County

September 25th-28th

Ice Age Trail Atlas Map 25f

- We're looking for a crew of Trail-hungry folks to punch in 800 feet of tread and help with camp needs in order to open a spectacular reroute started in August. Click here to register and get all the details, including driving directions and a list of what to bring.

Project II: Baraboo Segment, Sauk County

October 16th-19th

- Help craft the first off-road segment of the western bifurcation in Ice Age Trail history. City of Baraboo community support promises to knock your socks off! Click here to register and get all the details, including driving directions and a list of what to bring.

Info for Both Projects

Come on out for all or any part of these events...whatever amount of time your schedule permits is valuable to us. We'll feed you and, if you are interested in helping for multiple days, provide a place to camp close to the work site.

Participants interested in trail building will receive hands-on training in advanced trail construction techniques by volunteer crew leaders as part of our Mobile Skills Crew program. No experience is necessary! If trail building isn't your cup of tea, we have plenty of other roles for you, including volunteer support and event publicity.

Give us a call (800-227-0046) or send us an email (info@iceagetrail.org) with any additional questions about the projects.

Register Now for our "Fall into the Future" Event!

Members of the Ice Age Park & Trail Foundation are cordially invited to our Fall into the Future event on Saturday, October 4th and Sunday, October 5th, 2008.

Over the course of the weekend, we'll hear from compelling guest speakers and have stimulating discussions about the future of the Ice Age Trail and the IAPTF. We'll also carve out some time to enjoy the Trail with a fall colors hike on the beautiful Chippewa Moraine Segment.

The event starts with breakfast Saturday morning and ends with lunch on Sunday afternoon. A variety of lodging options will be available for Friday and Saturday nights. The bulk of the event will take place at Beaver Creek Reserve in Fall Creek, Wisconsin, about 12 miles east of Eau Claire.

IAPTF Main Office Is on the Move

On July 28th, 2008, the IAPTF main office relocated from Madison, Wisconsin to Cross Plains, Wisconsin. We'll be in temporary quarters there until January 2009, when we move into a new office building at 2110 Main Street in Cross Plains.

When contacting us, you can use the 2110 Main Street address even though we're not quite there yet, as the U.S. Postal Service has graciously allowed us to use it while we're stationed at our temporary quarters.

The move is very exciting business for the IAPTF! Cross Plains has opened its arms to us in a big way, with outstanding community support and a warm, welcoming spirit. We're thrilled to have our main office directly on the route of the Ice Age Trail and look forward to having the majority of our staff under one roof for the first time in recent memory.
